How much of a patient's foot must be missing before they qualify for a Q7 modifier? Is missing one or more metatarsals a Q7? If they've had a transmetatarsal amputation, do they qualify for a Q7?
I'm getting conflictive information. I'm being told unless they have an amputated foot (ankle amp) or leg (aka/bka) they do not qualify for Q7. The others that are stating that TMA qualifies.
If I'm reading the modifier correctly, it seems to imply that the entire Foot must be missing to qualify for a Q7
Thank you Dr Freedman. I've been to your lectures and it's is always a great learning (and sometimes terrifying experience lol.
I suspect some of us are are mixing up the DME inserts code requirements for a partial filler with the Q7 modifiers for routine footcare.
Rahul:
Q7 is defined as "Class A findings are specifically defined as a non-traumatic amputation of the foot or a part of the foot's skeletal structure." So, as you can see it can be any part of a foot not just the whole foot. Always verify your uncertainty, thanks for this important question as this answer makes the Q7 certain as outlined here!
