There are no hard fast rules here which uniformly apply to all the MCR replacement plans. What all Medicare replacement plans must do is adhere to the notion that anything that traditional fee for service Medicare covers, they must.
But it does not say how that will logistically play out.
Some carriers will not reimburse physicians for any surgical dressings under any circumstance and will only reimburse large national contracted suppliers.
Some have a very restrictive formulary.
Some will incorrectly consider those dressings dispensed on the date of debridement a component of the surgical debridement.
It is best to check with the carrier and obtain pre certification of benefits and prior authorization before you dispesense valuable products.
